Hi; someone help me to solve this equation, I have worked for four day but I cant get the answer. 2^x=4x. my email is rizikimpallate@yahoo.com

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 is an answer by inspection. there is another one as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ull have to graph both of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then find the intersections

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This will help http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2^x%3D4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.3099069325 if you want the decimal approximation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but maple is telling me that this is the "lambert W function" so i think there is no snap algebra way to do this. just numerically

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shes right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you worked on this for four days?! lmao seems like you need to take a math class. this is a very simple problem that even if you didnt know the proper procedure you could use trial and error.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

example 1 here, but won't help much is my guess. make your replacements and get an answer of some form\ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambert_W_function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@strive simple it is not!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just use a graphing calculator and put the problem into solver if all else fails
