A ball rebounds 7/8 as high as it bounces on the previous bounce and is dropped from a height of 8 feet. How high does it bounce on the fourth bounce and how far has it traveled after the fourth bounce?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8*(7/8)^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8(1+2(7/8) +2(7/8)^2+ 2(7/8)^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain how you got this answer. I am so confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the first bounce it bounces 7/8th as high as 8 feet. on the second bounce, it boundes 7/8th as high as the previous time and so on. so the answer is 8(7/8)^4

is this a arithmetic sequence or geometric

OpenStudy (anonymous):

geometric
