It changed from a mercantilism perspective [Government controlled foreign trade importance] to the vision pioneered by Adam Smith, which basically said that wealth was finite and MUST come at the expense of another state.

Also the Industrialist replaced artists and craftsmen s as the prime facilitator of goods, and factories instead of small homes became the place where goods where made.
