The time it takes to lay a sidewalk of a certain type varies directly as the length and inversely as the number of men working. If eight men take two days to lay 100 feet, how long will three men take to lay 150 feet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just do it as 8 men----- 2 days ------- 100 feet 8 men ----- 1 day --------- 50 fet 1 man ------ 1 day -------- 50/8 feet 3 men ------ 1 day -------- 3* 50/8 means 150/8 3 men------ (if took 8 days)-- then 150 feet actually i try to get 150..there ... 8 days may your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What prashant said. If it takes 8 men 2 days to lay 100 feet, then they could lay 50 feet in 1 day, and each could lay 50/8 in a day. Three men could lay 150/8 in a day. So to lay 150 feet, it would take 3 men 8 days.

Thanks to both of ya!!(:
