Solve: 2/3x - 1/6= -5/12x + 3/2- 1/6x If the lcd is 24 how do I cancel out the fractions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplest way is to multiply everything by 24 then 3 into 24 is 8, 6 into 24...etc (This works because you could move all the terms to one side of the = leaving a 0 on the other side)

Get it or not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But then what happens to the numerator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lets do a simpler one using the method 3x/5 = -5x/12. So the LCD is 60, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So let's put everything one side of the equals 3x/5 + 5x/12 = 0 Happy with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess not, ah well.
