Given points A(3, 2) and B(9, 1). Answer the following question concerning using the Pythagorean Theorem to find AB. What is this value of the vertical leg? 1) 3 2) 12 3) 6 4) 1

OpenStudy (aroub):

do it by using the distance formula (do u know it?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you start at point A(3,2) and move to point B(9,1) how far did you move vertically (how much does your y-part change)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You understand how the x/y parts of the points are specified?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did the distance formula and got 3 as my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it's not asking for the distance from A to B. It's asking for the length of the vertical leg.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you just have to find how much you change vertically.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I apologixe you are right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

apologize

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you figure it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I dont know how to go about doing that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well what's the y-value of the point (3,2) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess you've moved on.
