OpenStudy (mystery):

what does orbit stands for in space terminology? how many orbits do we have and difference between them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An orbit is usually thought of as a closed path (ellipse of some eccentricity) around a body - like the path of a satellite around the earth. Since it is a path, there are infinitely many. Some also include open paths like hyperbolas in the definition (those where the object does not return) but not generally.
