a removable discontiuity can be "removed" to make the function continuous. The limit exists at that point but is not equal to the value of the function. f(x)= x x<1 0 x=1 2x -1 1<x<3 3 x=3 1 x>3

the first discont. at x=1 is removable, and at x=3 we have a non-removable discont.
