well as far as I have seen in life, you have to have a nice personality, genuine smile that reaches your eyes, be honest and open, appreciate him when he does well and give gentle criticism when he fails....

on top of that if u share common interests in music, sports etc. then it helps

while talking to him, bend down your head a little and then look at him ..... it creates a certain angle and if done right, catches him...

the worst thing to do is to "create"   a "you' that is not the real you....
so be natural, be yourself, be helpful, be attentive and be a "good friend" first and other things will follow after a while......
