Is there a certain programming language best to start with?

This course is based on Python, which seems pretty straightforward so far.  But I actually started programming in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to make tedious tasks easier at work ... I'm a technical writer/editor.  My experience working in VBA really got me hooked because it's meaningful ... and thus learning Python is meaningful as it relates to my experience with VBA.  If you use any computer applications already, you might look into programming languages attached to those.
