How did slavery make families stronger?

Because it would make it so that the only thing really black families had was each other. So, they began trusting each other more and the like, and that's how it built their relations

Plus, their children could be and probably usually were sold off at a young age if they were not used.

I dont know where the question came from, but slavery does not always make families stronger, see discussion in "The Condition of Man" by Lewis Mumford.
