How would i go about solving this limit: lim as x approaches -1 of: (x+1)/abso. value(x-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just straight plug in. \[\lim_{x \rightarrow -1} \frac{x+1}{|x-1|}=0\]

i read something where the abolute value of x can give us either x or -x do i have to apply that property here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not for this particular problem. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=limit+of+%28x%2B1%29%2Fabs%28x-1%29%2Cx%2C-1
