Kidneys collect the fluid portion of blood & do many functions. What are they?? Give 5 examples.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The kidneys perform a wide range of vital functions in the healthy body, such as: Removing wastes and water from the blood Balancing chemicals in your body Helping control blood pressure by removing excess salt Helping to produce red blood cells Producing vitamin D, which keeps the bones strong and healthy In addition to removing wastes, the kidneys release three important hormones: erythropoietin, or EPO, which stimulates the bone marrow to make red blood cells renin, which regulates blood pressure calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D, which helps maintain calcium for bones and for normal chemical balance in the body. Hope this is sufficient information.......
