x+3y=32 -3x+2y-3 Need help using the substitution method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.twiddla.com/563490

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe this is \[x+3y=32\] \[-3x+2y=3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or maybe not i don't know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, she didn't post it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=32-3y -3x=3-2y => x=-1+2y/3 32-3y=-1+2y/3 33=2y/3+3y 33=11y/3 33*3/11=y 9=y x=32-3(9)=32-27=5 (5,9) is the intersection if satellite has the lines right and if i made no mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, x = 5, y = 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well since you have nice whole number answers i bet it is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it does say substitute yes? write \[x=32-3y\] and next equation becomes \[-3(32-3y)+2y=3\] \[11y=99\] \[y=9\] not sure where those fractions came from. right answer though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i jsut solve both equations for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and set the equations = to each other and solved for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ictrees your answer is fine. but really if you solve for y in terms of x why solve for x in terms of y? you already have x = 32-3y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol because i wanted to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no math in colors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

won't work because you have it in the "text"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\color{orange}{\frac{a}{b}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just remove the "text"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\color{orange}{\frac{a}{b}}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put in latex and will work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\color{blue}{\frac{a^2}{a}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amistre created this monster. waste all your time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i just like this
