It was like;they knew it was a war but did not pronounced about it.Like a indirected war to know who would prevail: capitalism or comunism.The Spacial Race,for example.It was a competition of space technology between the United States and Soviet Union.When United States won,leading a man to the moon and hanging an american flag on it, contributed much.The former USSR suffered much to restore its economy when he had to give up communism :/ anyway,your answer was good :)

America went very far in making U.S.S.R. waste precious resources in a game of who is more dangerous. It was obvious even as Regan took office that the Soviet Union was breaking down. Having no major powers that would trade with it or share ideas (besides what it could get through espionage) other than other half failed states it controlled by proxy it once again became a stagnant country with a failing economy and gutted populace. While Russia had nukes as we did we had something they didn't. A supercharged economy a growing middle class and a growing technological lead.

the 'cold' was was called 'cold' because, unlike 'hot' wars such as Vietnam and Korea, no actual battles were fought between the two sides. and who won the space race is debatable, as Russians put a satellite and a man into space first, but it is not debatable who won the cold war, as the Soviet Union was forced to collapse.

But "zmanzono",you have to see that who won the cold war is not debatable because its a kind of obvious.The Spacial Race was just an excuse.Who prevailed in the world(except Cuba): the comunism or capitalism?The capitalism!And who represented the capitalism?United States!So,we can conclude that United States won the war.But we all have to understand that it doesn`t was a war between USA ans URSS but between CAPITALISM AND COMUNISM.The economy in the world was growing and the capitalists countries needeed consumer markets.The URSS proposed the division of consumables in a society that would not have class divisions,there would be no rich or poor, because nothing would be sold.But this harmed the capitalists.So,they tried bring the URSS to their side.And they got,but only after stabilization of the USSR due to the crisis of transition from communism to capitalism.
