Who was the president of the U.S. before George Washington?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No one, The United States constitution was ratified in 1788 which created the office of President of the United States, gave it it's powers, responsibilities, etc George Washington was the first official to hold the Title "President of the United States of America". Technically you had Presidents of the United States in Congress in the Articles of confederation. The first President of that was Samuel Huntington 1781. So long as you know there is a big difference between the former and the later.

There were several before him. He was just the first under the constitution.

I wanted to know the last under the confederation.
