give the function g described by g(x)=7x find each of the following: g(-6) g(1) g(31)
substitute the value in the parentheses for x g(-6)=7(-6)=-42 do the same for g(1) and g(31)
i dont understand
g(x) is a function just like y= but instead of saying substitute a value for x (several times) we write it in function notation and say g(value of x) which means substitute the number in the parentheses for x. It is like making a table and finding the values for x when x=-6, x=-1 and x=31
I am sorry. I misread the question. you have three points (-6,-42), (1,7) and (31,217). See if the slopes are the same, if so it is linear and you can pick two points and find the equation of the line. If it is not, you need to use \[y=ax ^{2}+bx+c\] and subtitute the different values of x and y into the equation so you have 3 equations and then you need to solve the system of 3 equations for the 3 variables a,b,c
