I used synthetic division but you can use long division

-x^2-x+7

divide first term by first term -x^2/x=-x <== first part of answer

-x(x+3) = -x^2-3x
subtract from the original

-------------------------
2x +7 bring down the next term and repeat
2x/x = 2
