If 6 workers can build 4 cars in 2 days, then how many days would it take 8 workers to build 6 cars? please show the workings

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 cars in 2 days same as 2 cars per day. so if 6 workers make two cars a day, the rate for each worker is 1/3 car per day. now we have 8 workers so their combined rate is 8/3 of a car per day. set \[\frac{8}{3}x = 6\] , solve for x and get \[x=\frac{18}{8}=\frac{9}{4}=2\tfrac{3}{4}\] days
