i think good designers are a good mix of visual culture, creativity, innovation and guts.
Visual Culture is very important, you have to understand that everything in the world is a remix, but you need to know a lot to make a good remix.
Creativity is something you cannot learn, but you can develop it. a lot of practice!
Innovation is the way you mix your visual culture and your creativity to make something different.
Guts are required to do almost anything new... go for it!
