January 21 1792. He was charged with 33 counts of what amounted to Treason against the french people.

Louis ascended to the French throne in 1774 and from the start was unsuited to deal with the severe financial problems that he had inherited from his grandfather, King Louis XV. In 1789.and second reason is in November,1792 evidence of Louis XVI's counterrevolutionary intrigues with Austria and other foreign nations was discovered, and he was put on trial for treason by the National Convention. On Monday, 21 January 1793, stripped of all titles and honorifics by the Republican Government, Citoyen Louis Capet was beheaded by guillotine on the Place de la Révolution.
