The perimeter of a certain basketball court is 266 ft. it's length is 35 ft. more than it's width. Find the dimensions of the court

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try setting up two formulas with variables "L" for length and "W" for width. You should know the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle, that's the first one. The second formula will use the information int he problem "the length is 35 more than the width. Then solve one of the equations for "L" in terms of "W", and plug that into the other formula, and you should be able to solve for "W" as a number. Put that back into the other formula to solve for "L".
