How to do the required calculation of the leak rate of a Hermetic sealed of subsea container?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't know for sure, but would involve viscosity and the internal/external pressures on the container. Just FYI, I remember from my Differential Eqs. class in college that oxidation (rusting) requires oxygen, and at the deeper levels "subsea" (sic) there is no oxygen, hence no rusting. The seal would have to have been broken on impact. However, the dx/dt (terminal velocity) was insufficient to cause a 55 gal drum to break open.
