long story

String theory is based entirely on extremely complex mathematics. Stuff so complex you have to get a masters degree before you can understand how to derive one of the 8 equations that are combined to form the master equation which has 25 variable. Basically probably no one on this site has any clue how the math works BUT thats where the theory came from. And the numbers seem to work, and thats why the theory exists. There is really no way to verify it because we cannot measure or observe anything to support or disprove it since we only operate in the 4 dimensions and the 4th (time) only indirectly, and the theory suggests many more dimensions which we cannot interact with at this point in any way.
