Try Carl Zimmer, he has several books that give you a good intro to different aspects of biology in an easy to understand manner.  I recommend Microcosm

Hey, I am a senior in High School. When I first picked up a Richard Preston book I was a freshman, so it might be an easy read, but it is definitely a good read. I would suggest The Hot Zone or The Cobra Event. These are both by Richard Preston. He is an excellent author. You will absolutely not want to put his books down.

Try Supernormal stimuli: How Primal Urges Overran Their Evolutionary Purpose by Deirdre Barrett. I read it during the Junior-senior summer. It's not hard, and is easy to read.

the biology, 7th edition: campbell and reece isnt very light, but will cover anything you need until you get to college - http://www.amazon.com/Biology-Book-CD-ROM-Neil-Campbell/dp/080537146X you can get some really cheap 2nd hand ones too at about $15 delivered

If you need a high quality, high school level book, then there are tons of free textbooks available on ck12.org

They offer textbooks on every subject that are up to the standards of a certain grade level.

well if ur interested in genetics,thn grab this one-GENOME by MATT RIDLEY!its really awesum
