find the domain of the function p(x)=x^2-2x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless there is a denominator, the domain will be all real numbers since nothing can make that undefined.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

crrct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right but i have more to my options for the 1) x is a real number 2) x is a real number and x ≠0 3)x is a real number and x>0 4) x is a real number and x ≠ 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x is any real number choice 1

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

jose, how are u selecting the option a? can u please explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any number you choose will get you an answer. if you have something like y=3/x then if you choose x=0, you get undefined so whatever makes the denominator 0 or undefined is not part of the domain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so even if there is a 2 and for within the function you can still choose any number to replace x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure what you mean but if all numbers get you an answer when you substitute them for x, then the domain is all real numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah ok that makes sense! Thank you!
