has any one heard of risk and reward financing?

It's a simple financial concept. If you were going to invest money into a business, would you rather invest it in a riskier business and receive more income if the company does well or invest in a less risky business and receive less income? Whichever company you choose to invest in is fine, but the concept is that if you invest in a high risk company, you must be compensated extra for taking that risk.

Sharpe Ratio is one way of mathematically interpreting risk and return. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharpe_ratio
