I know steroids are organic compounds with 4 rings, and I know that many hormones (testosterone for example) are steroids, and so is cholesterol. I don't know about vitamins or alkaloids though.

Vitamin D in its various forms is a secosteroid. i.e. A steroid with the four-ring configuration in which one of the rings has been broken down. I think that's the loosest you can get to a vitamin with that configuration.
