Starting algebra, just know how to add, subtract, etc. The class will teach you the rest. As for getting a head start? Learn some basic properties (distributive property, FOIL, etc) and about functions/equations. There are plenty of math help sites out there that include college lecture videos from basic algebra to multivariate calc. Have fun, it shouldn't be too hard as long as the teacher can do their job!
