4y^2-2 / y-2

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

What about it? Graph, find derivative, slopes, critical points, tangent lines... inverse?

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

There's a lot we can do here with this. Rotate about x-axis, y-axis, some arbitrary vertical or horizontal line...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide the polynomial by the numerator by the binomial in the denomiator. ENter in simplified result.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a little simplification we can do is.... (4y^2-2 )/ (y-2)=(4y^2 )/ (y-2)- (2 )/ (y-2) or =2(2y^2-1 )/ (y-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are probably being asked to divide. find the quotient and remainder. you can use long division or synthetic division if you know it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if so the answer would be \[\frac{4y^2-2}{y-2}=y+8+\frac{14}{y-2}\]
