OpenStudy (anonymous):

if 6 passengers boarded a bus at stage x,at stage y 3 alighted and 8 boarded determine the age of the driver

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats my homework its crazie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're right. It is crazy. There's no way to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe the question begins "pretend YOU are driving a bus"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my proffesor says theaz a way if ur a real mathematician

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's your age.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your professor is a hoax

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hick nop thata how it is just as written

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hero i think so too bt if i dont get this my grades are going down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well just fail the course then. It's okay. Everyone will fail this class if these are the kinds of questions you have to answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hero i cant let go of my career just coz of a simple question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question is unanswerable as written. you must be missing some instructions elsewhere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well that reminds me of joke I heard many years ago!! A professor tells the class "If a bus is moving towards east at the speed of 50 km/h for 30 min and then turns north and travels for another 25 min at the speed of 65 km/h, then what is my age??" A boy slowly raises his hand and replies " Sir, u r 46 years old." The professor jumps with joys and says, "Wonderful job my son, how did you calculate my age from the data I gave you??" The boys said, "Sir, this has got nothing to do with your data. See, the way you have formed this questions reminds me of a guys in my lane whom everybody calls half-mad, and you see his age is 23 years. So I guessed you must b 46 years old!!!!"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hick am certain am not missin anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then it is unanswerable.

OpenStudy (radar):

I have heard something similar before. However, it started out "you're driving a bus........"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hark how is that suppose to help me i need an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm telling you: either you are missing some instructions, or there is no answer. you claim to be positive you are not missing anything, so the question cannot be answered. This is of no help to you, but it's not our fault.

OpenStudy (radar):

Let x= the age of the bus driver. 16<x<110 that should cover it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathfrick I know my joke is no help as an answer, but the question is such.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hick my age how?

OpenStudy (radar):

It is your age cause you are driving the bus, no one else is driving it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess the answer will be that his age lies somewhere between the minimum age at which he can be employed as a driver and the retirement age for such drivers !!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the instructions said something like "you are driving a bus. if 6 passengers boarded the bus at stage x..." then you are the bus driver. and the age is your age. But you said the question didn't say that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hark haha nice one Radar and Hick are you guys certain about that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, I'm certain that if the question said you were the bus driver, then you are the bus driver. WTF?

OpenStudy (radar):

No, I am not certaIn, but that is an old trick question and your prof may be using that ploy, but he should of said "you are driving a bus, at stage A 8 passsengers get on-------- blah blah"
