i know a few points on graph. how can i determine its function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This depends on a number of things. Are you trying to get a line of best fit, a straight line, or some other function? The process varies for each one.

few = 3? calculate the slope between them with change in y over change in x. if they are the same, it is a line. you have the slope, use y = mx + b and plug in a point to solve for b. If it's not a line, it depends.

i know 6 plot pnts and I need to find the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have any idea what form they might fall under? Is it assumed that it's a polynomial? An exponential? Trigonometric?

if any of the x-coordinates are the same and they have a different y-coordinate, it is not a function.
