Any advice on how to quit smoking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try reducing the number of cigarettes you take....... to overcome the addictive potential of nicotine use nicotine tablets/chewing gum/or nicotine patch etc......... try tapering the dose of the tablets(nicotine)......then take it to a full stop......................(:-) ;=) ;_) ;-)

quitting smoking its only done by you .. ! no body can help u if u don't have a motivation to stop it i mean u need to have a real reason to stop it, and i dont mean because its not good for health . it doesn't work like this, cause when u want to go back smoking u will say "what ever " about your health but if u have a big reason , you will think about it when u want to go back and that's what will stop you

Weaning has been proven to have a negative effect. Unfortunately cold turkey is the best method. But you need a lot of willpower, and the grace to realise that you WILL be in a bad mood and feel more stressed than usual. Normal psychophysiological response to dependence. You also have to know that for the rest of your life you sill sometimes have a craving for a smoke, and the WORST thing you can do is have one. Once your body has become addicted to something, relapsing is incredibly easy. All of that may sound depressing, but if you can work through it, you will be a better person because of it.

It's a stepwise process that starts and ends with you. If you find yourself unable to quit smoking on your own will. Try things such as nicorette or electric cigarettes. If those don't work, ask your doctor for prescription medications such as Chantix that can help you quit. In some states, this medication is free to help you.

My friends ate a lot of sunflower seeds, bubblegum, and jolly ranchers. Also try chocolate.
