France was a rich country at the time of revolution atleast there was no dire economic problems.Main reason behind the revolution is the disparity among the rich and the poor.John Law caused Mississippi Bubble which happened several decades before the revolution began. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Causes_of_the_French_Revolution
