Seriously dude, they are the exact same type of questions. You do know how to solve them, right? 18ft^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because they are similar, all their corresponding parameters will be in the same ratio. Like height/height = area/area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I'm taking a 2 week online geometry course and the professor doesn't expect us to actually learn anything. He's the one who reccomended this website to me. Thanks for the help though!

so in this question, area1/area2=volume1/volume2 20/45 = 8/x can you find x from here? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats not going to give the right answer =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that 20 is proportional to 8, i just don't know how to relate it to 45 and x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right. i am sorry i forgot to insert the powers. it's 20/45 = 4/9 this is the area which means squared lengths

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the ratio of lengths is root of 4/9 = 2/3 now volume is length cubes. so 8/x = (2/3)^3 relate the smaller volume to the smaller area or length or anything. so now 8/x = 8/27 x = 27 i hope i helped =(

I'm not expecting to actually learn anything, as the course is almost over, but you did help me understand some of the mechanics of the problem. Thanks!
