How are XOR and XAND gates universal? (if they are)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because you can use them to figurate anothers gates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

those are binary operators if I am not mistaken... xor is exclusive or xand is exclusive and These are used in logical operations within the pc cpu, is part of the computer architecture and organization and they work as gates too in this matter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you ok with the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XOR and XAND gates are not universal gates. NOR and NAND are universal gates because they can be used to replace any other gate logic (such as AND, OR, and NOT gates).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by using XOR and XAND gates you can implement the basic logic gates like AND,OR and NOT hence they are called universal gates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not to sound like a noob or anything but I thought XAND was XNOR (Exclusive Not OR), true for only values where it's either all true or all false.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are not, NAND and NOR gates are universal. I.E you can write all logical expressions with combination of NOR gates.
