In order to achieve maximum results from aerobic exercise, one should maintain one's heart rat at a certain level. A 40 year old woman with a resting heart rate of 80 beats per minute, should keep her heart rate between 140 and 160 beats per minute while exercising. She checks her pulse for 10 sec while exercising. What should the number of beats be?

Can someone please help me understand this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since there are 6 sets of 10 seconds in 60 seconds, you need to divide the heart rate by 6 to find out what a 60 second heart rate should be in 10 seconds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(140 beats)/(60 \sec)*10 \sec=23.3 beats\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then 160/60*10 would be 26.6 rounded would be 27?
