what is the sum of the external angles of a polygon?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you walk around, it's a circle, so 360 degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um... maybe it has to be convex....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, otherwise you could theoretically just go on and on....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol - never thought of it that way! yes it has to be convex. the reason i asked this was that i was answering a question about interior angles of a polygon, and used the exterior angles to work it out. then someone wrote this was totally wrong - he was defining the external angles to mean the total reflex angles.

he quoted (Zwillinger 1995, p. 270).

perhaps this is a' US thing'
