Is the operation used to solve an addition fraction problem (such as 3/4 + 5/6) the same as division and subraction as well as multiplication? If not, please explain the way to solve these other fraction operations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for addition and subtraction YOU MUST have the same denominator in each fraction. But for multiplication and division you do not need the same denominator.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i know what the words mean individually; but when you put them together like that, it just loses all sense and sensibility :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre: I'm asking if all four operations (subtraction, addition, division, and multiplication) for fractions are the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think she means do you do them the same way as was explained in the other question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mille512: Ooooh. That makes sense. Thanks!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ahhh; then milles reply covers it well :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)
