What do Sin Cos and Tan mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sin is ratio of opposite and hypotenuse of the right triangle

OpenStudy (amistre64):

theya re shorthand for the trigonometric functions. trig functions are not only defined; but named as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean the ratios?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like the ratio of Sin is oppsite/hypotenuse...so what is the ratio for the others?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sin is really the only one you need to recall; the others are simply "not" sin :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cos = adjacent/hypotenuse Tan = Opposite/adjacent

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sin = opp/hyp cos = not opp/hyp tan = sin/cos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks. :)
