I started a website and built it using dreamweaver. I have hosting at Ipage, but have no idea how to get my website up. Help?..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Many free hosting websites do not allow us to create website some where else and then host at their servers rather they provide their own online tools so pls check . And if ur hosting website is a paid one then generally they provide option to upload and modify ur website on their server via ftp or some way.. u better check with their website manuals..

It's a monthly pay web hosting service. I have uploaded a few of the pages (Main Index and a few others). I have no clue how to make those pages the "home" page for the website.

if the site has apache they will prob have a folder called www or public_html the index.html file in ther should b the home page... is that what you meant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make sure your home page is called by right name. It only finds home page with right name. I usually use "index.html"

Did you register a domain name?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to upload all of the website files to your hosting account. Use a program such as Filezilla. If you created the website using Dreamweaver, I assume it would have made an index file. Once all the files are uploaded, you should be able to access it using the domain name you purchased. If you don't have a domain name, you should talk to your hosting provider to find out how to get one.

yup FileZilla works great, you just need the username and password for your FTP server and you can then upload the .html, remember calling it index.html and the other files/folders that your main site will use, and don't put the index.html inside a folder, just trow it there on the main directory of the FTP server :)

What do you means you started a website? and i hope u have also bought the domain name(yourdomain.com/org/ or something like that. is called ur domain name). when u bought hosting they would have given u username and pass for ftp,if not login to cpanel of ur site and create a ftp account..or directly use the filemanager option present in ur control panel of ur website.. next step is to upload your files created in dreamweaver to ur webistes root folder.generally its of the name s public_html, www, or wwwroot thats it...ur site should be up ... is it shows permission error or something like that then u should change the file permissions...
