When there are two 3rd tones in a row, do the tones change?

I believe that in this case, the first one becomes a 2 tone. Like this 你好 (nǐ + hǎo = ní hǎo), 很好 (hěn + hǎo = hén hǎo), 好懂 (hǎo + dǒng = háo dǒng).

That is correct. When you have 2 third tones in a row the rule says that the first third tone turns into a second tone to make it easier to pronounce.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually both can turn into second tone if you speak fast. the standard Mandarin, however, does not require to change the tones at all. Changing occurs only at certain speaking speed.
