the order in which you work maths out is always do what is in the brackets first, then the multiplying and dividing and after that the addition and subtraction. So for your question \[3^3-(2+4*4)/2 = 3^3-(2+16)/2=3^3-(18)/2=27-9=18\] If you change the place of the bracket to say \[(3^3-2+4*4)/2\] this would be different as the value of the bracket needs to be calculated and that answer divided by 2
