Picture Question
that aint a picture ...
the angle of elevation is the slope of the tangent at 0 right?
well, at the seconds it describes
i have no clue how to do this i tried substitiuting the numbers but i got it wrong
h(x) = -16t +1000t sin(a); plug in 5,1500 and solve for sin(a) id say
-16(5) = 50+30 = -80 1000(5) = 5000 1500 - 50 --------- = sin(a) right? 5000
we can clean it up by knocking of a zero 150 - 5 ------- ; now divide out the 5 500 30 - 1 ------ = sin(a) 100
The given equation is wrong. Check out the units. You have units of length on the left, but the first term on the right is units of time squared. You're missing the acceleration of gravity.
29/100 = sin(a) sin-1(29/100) = a .. got a calculator for that one?
lol -16t^2 is the gravity per feet term
er you went from here 1000(5) = 5000 to 1500 - 50 --------- = sin(a) right? 5000 how?
the formula they give you; you just have to modify it algebraically to solve for sin(a) im assuming
h(t) = -16(5) +1000(5) sin(a) h(t) = -80 ..... forgot to square me 5 :)
1500 = -16(5)^2 +1000(5) sin(a) 1500+16(25) = 5000 sin(a) 1500 + 400 ----------- = sin(a) 5000 15 +4 ------ = sin(a) 50 sin-1(19/50) = a
wierd cant believe i missed that one
thanks for your help =D
youre welcome :)
