Jacob bought seven bottles of water. Each bottle contains 1/2 liter of water. How many liters did he buy? Explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 x 1/2 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what the...?? you dont have to explain that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL

It takes two halves to make a whole, so every two bottles of water is equal to one liter. After three liters there is a 1/2 liter left over, so there are three and a half liters all together.

did you really ask for help with that??

Sometimes explaining your thinking helps you to understand the math. You can't assume that everyone is as proficient in math as everyone else. You could be talking to a sixth grader.
