why do we need to classify organisms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To my understanding, it comes down to a need for organization. Biologists classify organisms to help trace evolutionary lineages. Organizing them in this manner allows them to easily identify related organisms just by their name.

il give u example other than organisms to understand it very well , suppose you enter a libary to get a certain book, then u realize that the books are randomly arranged on the bookshelves.it would take u hours to find what u need.however if the boooks are organized in a specfic order, you can find any book you want in just a few minuites . people organize many things into groups to make their work easier. for instance books can be classified into sections according to subjects:"science, "mathematics,"" novels",etc. classification is the process of arranging things into groups based on their similarities . today, scientists identify more than 1.7 million kinds of living things and discover about 15.000 new kinds each year. theerfore , its manadatory that they classify organisms into groups so that they can study them easily. ^^ hope that helps !! :D
