Show how to solve 7/12 × 6/11 with and without cancellation.

OpenStudy (aroub):

without cancellation= 42/132

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You'll still have to reduce that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with cancellation this is 7/22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With cancellation, you can criss-cross these by reducing the numerator of one and the denominator of the other by the greatest common factor. That is, 6 and 12 is reducible, giving (7/2)(1/11). You then simply multiply the numerators then the denominators to get an answer of 7/22. With cancellation, you simply multiply straight across from the beginning, getting 42/132, then simplify to 7/22.

Doing it without cancellation is silly
