please how to install/configure the display card in Ubuntu ?

Sytem -> Hardware drivers, and the rest is just cllck click, super user password and click click. And probably a reboot too. :-)

Thanks I tried it but got this msg : "No Proprietary drivers are in use on this system ." :(

type of display card in your system......(nVidia, radeon, on-board) Usually there is no need to install drivers in Ubuntu , Most drivers are detected automatically with a few exception to the proprietary ones. If your display is looking goo it is already installed.

..you can check what video card is detected by your Ubuntu by running lspci. (or lspci | grep VGA) ..also, by running fglrxinfo you can actually see which (if any) drivers have been installed for yer video card.

The type is : nVidia Corporation G98 [GeForce 9200M GS] but even in windows when I format I should reinstall all drivers .... about fglrxinfoI tried it and got : The program 'fglrxinfo' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx fglrxinfo: command not found I typed the command : sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx and got : Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Couldn't find package xorg-driver-fglrx thanks for helping :) and sorry am a beginner with linux

no my version is older . It's 9.10 GNOME

You could try downloading the drivers from the nvidia site and installing them.. the usual way :-)
