Find the probability of drawing a heart or red card from a standard 52 card deck?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the same a p(red_card) because all hearts are red. so 1/2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NOOOOO! hearts are red.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are 13 cards per suit. There are two red suits, two black suits. So the probability of drawing a heart would be 13/52 and the probability of drawing a red card would be 26/52. So you have a 50% chance to draw a red card (but since hearts are red) you don't count the other 25% chance.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right. so you can choose hearts or diamonds. p=1/2

ok i see

myininaya (myininaya):

im not good at probability :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's OK. you'll be good in no time. :-)

myininaya (myininaya):

lol
