anyone know about functions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a little.. what do u need???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im having trouble with a chapter in my class about function translations.. can you help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are given that (7, 0) is a point on the graph of y = f(x). Consider the function g(x) = -f(x) + 5. There is a point on the graph of g(x) such that x = 7. What is the y-coordinate of this point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

zi my self don't really have to much experience with them. I just had a few problems in my last math class.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[f(7)=0\] so \[g(7)=-f(7)+5=-0+5=5\] (7,5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The fact that (7, 0) is a point on the graph of y = f(x) means that \[f(7) = 0.\]Using this, just plug the number 7 into the formula for g(x).

ok thanks
